Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What Outsourced Services does ARIVA specialize in? A. ARIVA specializes in Outsourced Services in Art & Animation, Testing & QA, Software Development and Product / Market Research. Q.How big is ARIVA? A. ARIVA works with a partner network of 20+ studios, agencies and companies, in addition to an extended network of pre-screened freelancers. Our total reach is between 200 - 250 specialist(s) / resource(s) in term of bench strength (i.e. the number of individuals we can offer to our clients). Q. Why work with ARIVA vs. working directly with agencies / freelancers? A. Sometimes working with a single point of contact such as ARIVA has a multitude of benefits like: - A single HR / Payments interface. - Payment escrow and talent quality screening. - Access to a larger network of partner studios. - Ability to staff a project with a mix of resources from different studios, companies and even freelancers. - You get to deal with a single US based entity. - Simplicity with contracts and paperwork.. Q. What is ARIVA's pricing like? A. ARIVA typically provides specialist talent and bills on a per-month full-time basis inclusive of all overheads. For example, a resource (i.e. a person or specialist doing a certain job) can be available to clients for a figure of $X / month. This $X / month covers the employee's base salary, health benefits, insurance, etc. and depends on: - The type of role - The level of education - The experience - Demand for the skillset Q. What if I don't like what I get? A. ARIVA's contracts are designed with simplicity in mind and allow you the ability to quickly on-board or off-board (i.e. terminate) by giving a short notice. The minimum notice required generally depends on various factors like length of contract, etc. Q. Is this a new business model? A. No, in fact, we have modeled our contracts to emulate the Real Estate / Apartment Rental industry. Just like how you have various lengths of leases for apartments and houses with varying termination clauses (and notice periods), our contracts can be easily modified and tailormade to your specific needs. Q. Where is ARIVA based? A. ARIVA is headquartered in San Francisco, USA and has satellite offices in Los Angeles, USA and Pune, India; along with a large global partner network that is not limited to a specific geographical location. Q. Can you give a specific example of what value ARIVA brings to the table? A. We are glad you asked. Let us take an example of product testing and QA (Quality Assurance) for a Game Company. Through the QA function and processes can be designed in many ways, a a generic simple of a QA function's role can be seen in the image below:

A typical QA workflow for a Game Studio

In the above example, for an effective QA process to work seamlessly, it requires 2 core elements: (1) A properly defined 'process' or 'workflow' where the information between the programmer (or Software Dev team) to be handed over to the QA team and the feedback loop (or the handover) of the QA checks to be provided back to the Software Dev team for fixing. This can be equated to knowing WHERE to hammer a nail. (2) The ability to isolate, classify and record (or tag) bugs (issues) in the company's bug tracking system after properly running through a full QA cycle. This can be equated to knowing HOW to hammer the nail. While a lot of companies can easily offer the HOW to hammer the nail, ARIVA helps be helping set a process which makes knowing WHERE to hammer the nail a value addition. This can mean a difference between a successful and unsuccesful QA.
